Gay Texas judge won’t marry straight couples
Tonya Parker, an African-American lesbian judge in Texas, refuses to marry straight couples until everyone in the state has the right to marry.
Turning away would-be newlyweds is “my opportunity to give them a lesson about marriage inequality in this state,” Parker told a meeting of the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas earlier this week.
She said it’s “oxymoronic” for her to perform a ceremony that can’t be performed for her.
Instead, she refers couples to other judges in the courthouse with an explanation along the lines of “I’m sorry. I don’t perform marriage ceremonies because we are in a state that does not have marriage equality, and until it does, I am not going to partially apply the law to one group of people that doesn’t apply to another group of people,” she told the meeting.

While Obama was announcing his support for gay marriage, Argentina was formalizing rights for transgendered adults to get publicly-funded sex change operations and ID changes. Top that, America. (photo by Natacha Pisarenko/AP)
I really wish we had this kind of thing here in America…

George Takei presents us with an interesting poll:
I love this man more than words can explain, and this is just one of the many reasons why.
He isn’t afraid to stand up for people who don’t have a voice and he’s got intelligent ways of doing so.

Community and Consequences: Understanding the Costs of Reclaiming “Tr***y”
My awesome ex hits it out of the park, YET AGAIN. Love you always, Tobi. ♥
I was coaxed into writing one more article about the term “tranny.” This time, it’s more of an emotional appeal than an argumentative one. Check it out.
“I want to be clear I have no investment in policing anyone’s language, if for no other reason than that’s a full time job and I’ve got better things to be doing. I’m not going to start any boycotts. I’m not going to nag and lecture. I’m not going to leave angry comments on your Facebook page. I just think that trans men and other female assigned trans folks should be aware of the impact of using that word and the alienating effect it has on many trans women. I give performances, and if I was ever alienating a lot of folks, I would want to know, especially if I was alienating people along lines of oppression.”

582) Why is it that I feel SO much better about myself and face after I shave? It is like shutters open up in my mind. I feel it’s because I don’t have my facial hair anchoring me down, I can focus better on all of my feminine features. I can’t wait to get laser.
